Intermediate Coastal Cruising

Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat Sailing and Basic Coastal Cruising Certification

General Description: This is an advanced cruising Standard for sailors with cruising experience. The individual can act as skipper or crew of a 30 - 50 foot boat sailing by day in coastal waters. The course includes knowledge of boat systems and maintenance procedures. This course gives you the certification you need to charter larger boats within and beyond your home waters. Most charter companies require a sailing resume from the Skipper charting the boat, and they look for certifications like this. It’s an essential “drivers license” of sorts when renting or charting sail boats. If you want to charter a boat on your own or as part of a larger Sea Safaris by BENautical Flotilla, you’ll need this course.

Format: Taught on Lake Michigan from Waukegan or Milwaukee. It is offered as a two consecutive day, two consecutive weekend course. Saturday/ Sunday – 8-12 or 1-5. It will also be offered with Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA103) and Coastal Navigation (ASA105) as an “On Safaris” course, 4 day course from Waukegan to Milwaukee and back or Milwaukee to Sheboygan and back.

Cost: $495 (includes necessary course materials) for weekend format ($50 discount for returning Sea Safaris ASA 103 Student) – “On Safaris with ASA103 - $980 ($100 discount for returning Sea Safaris Students). “On Safaris” with ASA105 - $945 ($100 discount for returning Sea Safaris Student).
