Coastal Navigation (105)
Prerequisites: None General Description: This course teaches navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. There are no Sailing Skills required for this Standard. This is a perfect course to better understand coastal navigation. It answers the question “What happens when my GPS breaks?” It gives you a hands-on view of how you are interacting with the world around you. Not only do you learn to better navigate within your own waters, but you’ll also learn about tides and currents and how they affect your sailing experience if you choose to sail elsewhere. Format: Taught in two formats – Classroom or “On Safaris”. Classroom format is taught as a two consecutive day, two consecutive weekend course. Saturday/Sunday – 8-12 or 1-5 during the winter. It will also be offered with Bareboat Chartering (ASA104) as an “On Safaris” course, 4 day course from Waukegan to Milwaukee and back or Milwaukee to Sheboygan and back. Cost: $450 (includes necessary course materials) for weekend format ($50 discount for returning Sea Safaris Students) – “On Safaris” with ASA104 - $945 ($100 discount for returning Sea Safaris Students). |
