Prerequisites: ASA101 – Basic Keelboat Sailing Certificate
General Description: This course is the introductory course to the world of coastal cruising. It provides the necessary knowledge to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 30 – 35 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions.
Format: Taught on Lake Michigan from our Chicago Harbors, Wilmette and Waukegan, IL and Milwaukee, WI. It is taught over 16 hours in a two consecutive day, two consecutive weekend course. Saturday/Sunday – 8-12 or 1-5, Evenings from 6-9P or a “Weekend for Sail” format – two weekend days 8 hours each day. It is also offered with Bareboat Chartering (ASA104) as an “On Safaris” 4-day course. Typically sailing from Milwaukee to Port Washington and back or Waukegan to Racine and back.
This course is offered taught in our “Basics for Sail” – 3-Day Format. The Basics for Sail format combines both the ASA101 and ASA103 in a 3 day weekend (8 hours each day) giving students that ability to qualify for the two most popular courses in a concentrated weekend format.
Learning Investment: $535 which includes necessary course materials and ASA certification
“Basics for Sail” – ASA 101/103, 3-day weekend format – $970. ($30 discount when combined course – $940 total)
“On Safaris” – ASA103/104, 4-day format – $1080 ($60 discount for returning Sea Safaris Students – $1020 total).
