General Description: This is a perfect introductory course to help you learn about sailing. It will provide the necessary knowledge to sail a boat of about 20 feet in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision.  The course is taught by USCG Captains and your certification is recognized by the United States Coast Guard as a Safe Boating Course.

Format: Taught from 31st Street Harbor, Monroe Harbor, Belmont Harbor, Waukegan Harbor, Milwaukee Harbor, on Bangs Lake,  IL and from Neenah, Sturgeon Bay, WI.  This course  is offered as a weekday, evening or weekend course.  It is taught principally in two formats –  over 12 hours in 4 three-hour lessons or 3 four-hour lessons during the day or consecutive weekends.  Is it also offered in our  “Weekend for Sail” format, both Saturday and Sunday, 6 hours each day.

We offer this course in a combined format, “Basics for Sail” – 3-Day Format.  The Basics for Sail format combines both the ASA101 and ASA103 in a 3 day weekend (8 hours each day) giving students that ability to qualify for the two most popular courses in a concentrated weekend format.  The cost of the course is the combined cost of the ASA101 and 103 per location.
