ONLINE - Virtual InstructorThis course teaches navigational skills required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. This is a perfect course to better understand coastal navigation and how you interact with the world around you. Beyond your GPS, you’ll learn skills to safely navigate waters that include tidal and current changes. In this course you will learn chart reading, maritime publications, navigation equipment, tide and current tables, plotting position, bearings, running fixes, set and drift, navigation lights, day shapes, buoyage systems, current and leeway and much more.
Format: Hybrid Instructor Led Training via ZOOM – followed by 2 days In Person at Hoofer Sailing Club – UW Madison. This course is offered as a 5 remote 3 hour sessions, followed by a Saturday, and Sunday, 8 hours each day.

ASA 101/103 Basic Sailing & Basic Cruising Combo | June 7-9 | Port Washington, WI: $1,347.00
PORT WASHINGTON, WIASA101 – This is a perfect course for students with fundamental sailing knowledge. Because of the shortened format, the course moves along quickly. The Basic Keelboat will be a refresher as much as learning new skills. It will provide the necessary knowledge to sail a boat of about 20 feet in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. The course is taught by USCG Captains and your certification is recognized by the United States Coast Guard as a Safe Boating Course.
ASA103 – General Description: With past experience and ASA101 Certification sailing fundamentals, this course is the next step and serves as an introductory course to the world of coastal cruising. It provides the necessary knowledge to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 30 – 35 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions.
Format: This course is offered as a 3 day weekend course over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 8 hours each day.

You will learn the fundamentals of keelboat sailing, including sail theory and practice, terminology, safety equipment and procedures, crew overboard recovery, sailing knots and much more.

Milwaukee Yacht ClubThis course is the next step to help you learn more about sailing and maximizing efficient use use of proper sail trim. It will provide the necessary knowledge to sail a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 30 feet in length by day in winds up to 20 knots. Depart, sail, and return with control demonstrating teamwork.

ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising | June 24th – 27th | Sturgeon Bay, WI:
Harbor Club Marina - Sturgeon Bay, WIThis course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to safely operate as the skipper and crew of a sailing vessel ranging from 30 to 50 feet in length. It encompasses both day and nighttime sessions conducted in coastal and inland waters, regardless of weather conditions. Building upon the foundations laid in prior ASA courses, students embark on an extended coastal sail, including overnight passages, where they will learn new concepts and apply advanced sailing techniques and skills.
The course spans four days and imparts the prequisite expertise for coastal navigation. It instills the confidence to plan, chart, and execute extended coastal cruises under varying conditions on sailboats of up to 50 feet in length.

This is an attractive 40 foot sailing yacht, is designed with 3 cabins and 2 heads. This is a top of the line cruising model with all of the comforts and features to make learning fun and safe. Features include: Roller furling sails, dodger and bimini, anchor windlass, autopilot, GPS, and color chartplotter.
Our journey begins in Sturgeon Bay, WI, and takes us to Frankfort, MI or Glen Arbor, MI crossing the lake before returning to our home base in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Your planning and navigational abilities will complete the adventure!

ASA 104, Bareboat Chartering | SEPT 11 – 14 | Sturgeon Bay, WI: $1,547.50
Harbor Club Marina - Sturgeon Bay, WIThis is a comprehensive cruising standard for sailors with cruising experience. Certified students act as skipper or crew of a 28 – 50 foot boat sailing by day in coastal waters. The course includes basic navigation, cruise planning, advanced anchoring techniques, boat systems and maintenance procedures. International sailing considerations along with learning how to respond to “what ifs” that might occur when you are off-shore and the “first responder”. Most charter companies require a sailing resume from the Skipper and look for this internationally accepted certification when chartering a boat.
Format: Taught from Harbor Club Marina, located in Sturgeon Bay, WI. This course is offered as a 4 day overnight week day course departing on Wednesday, September 11th and returning on September 14th.
