ASA 103/104/114 – A Learn-To-Sail Vacation | Feb 24 – Mar 1, 2025: $3,095

Set sail with us aboard the Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 for an unforgettable journey through the stunning British Virgin Islands.

Here’s a glimpse of our exciting itinerary:
Day 1 (Sunday 2/23): The morning is open for exploring and shopping. Arrive in Village Cay, Roadtown, BVI and explore town and other possibilities. You must try the Chicken Roti, my favorite!! Later, in the evening we’ll have dinner in the town at Bamboche and then stay aboard our Catamaran for the night.
Day 2 (Monday 2/24): We depart in the morning and head for Salt Island. Spend some time on Salt Island and then we sail over to Cooper Island for Dinner at the Copper Island Eco Resort. Cooper Island. There are a few privately owned properties on the island, one being the Family owned Eco–resort beach club resort. Cooper Island Beach Club has a newly renovated restaurant and Rum Bar. Another option is to stay overnight at Marina Cay and have dinner on shore or at the exclusive Scrub Island Resort.
Day 3 (Tuesday 2/25): Weigh in the anchor and we sail off to North Gorda Sound and anchor at the Bitter End Yacht Club. Happy Hour and Dinner at the Bitter End Yacht Club for the evening or Saba Rock for more upscale dining.
Day 4 (Wednesday 2/26): Wake up and sail to Anegada, This island is actually a giant sand bar on top of a reef. Always worth the sail, Anegada is almost completely circled by reef and is surrounded by white beaches. We can rent electric beach cruising Jeeps and explore the island, We’ll find beach bars and be able to relax in a hammock under sea grape trees. We’ll have dinner ashore at a fabulous Potters Lobster restaurant on the beach before heading back to the Yacht.
Day 5 (Thursday 2/27): Leaving Anegada, we depart at night to gain experience standing watch at night. We will carefully navigate out past Anegada’s barrier reefs and continue our sail downwind to Jost Van Dyke. It’s the longest sail of the week. By sunrise, you will pick up a mooring ball near Sandy Cay. A picture book anchorage with palm trees spotting a white sandy beach. After we’ve rested up and had lunch, we continue to JVD and find the famous Foxy’s bar for Happy Hour and Dinner back on the Catamaran.
Day 6 (Friday 2/28): Another opportunity for night sailing experience, we leave for the Bight at Norman Island. We can grab a mooring ball and rest up before continuing into the Bight. Where we can snorkel and celebrate at the Legendary Floating Bar and Restaurant, THE WILLY T!
Day 7 (Saturday 3/1): We set sail, and return to Village Cay, Tortola, BVI. We have time to sail in the morning but have to be off the boat by 11:00am.

ASA 101/103 Basic Sailing & Basic Cruising Combo | June 6-8 | Port Washington, WI: $1,347.00
PORT WASHINGTON, WIASA101 – This is a perfect course for students with fundamental sailing knowledge. Because of the shortened format, the course moves along quickly. The Basic Keelboat will be a refresher as much as learning new skills. It will provide the necessary knowledge to sail a boat of about 20 feet in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. The course is taught by USCG Captains and your certification is recognized by the United States Coast Guard as a Safe Boating Course.
ASA103 – General Description: This course is the next step and serves as an introductory course to the world of coastal cruising. It provides the necessary knowledge to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 30 – 35 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions.
Format: This course is offered as a 3 day weekend course over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 8 hours each day.

ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising | June 21st & June 22nd | Port Washington, WI: $927.00
PORT WASHINGTON, WIThis course is the next step into the world of coastal cruising. It provides the necessary knowledge to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 28 – 35 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions. You will learn the basics of daytime coastal cruising in moderate wind and sea conditions including the recommended safety equipment, forecasting weather, reading navigational charts, marlinspike seamanship, boat handling under sail and power and more.

ASA 104/106 Advanced Bareboat Coastal Cruising Combo | July 21st – 25th | Sturgeon Bay, WI: $2,457.50
Harbor Club Marina - Sturgeon Bay, WIReady to level up your sailing experience and venture into serious coastal cruising? This combined ASA 104 and ASA 106 course offers a comprehensive training experience for sailors looking to become confident and capable skippers for chartering and extended coastal passages.
The ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising portion covers essential cruising skills aboard a 28–50 ft sailboat, including acting as skipper and crew in daylight hours along coastal waters. You’ll dive into cruise planning, basic navigation, advanced anchoring, docking, provisioning, and onboard systems operation. This certification is often required by international charter companies and builds a strong foundation for real-world cruising adventures.
The ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising builds on that foundation with a five-day passage across Lake Michigan aboard a fully equipped bluewater cruiser. You’ll put your skills to the test with night sailing, waypoint navigation, radar use, electronic chart plotting, and emergency procedures. You’ll practice crew-overboard drills, develop float plans, evaluate weather patterns, and refine your sail trim and boat handling in a variety of conditions—including heavy weather.
We’ll also cover troubleshooting and self-sufficiency when offshore, preparing you to be the “first responder” when something doesn’t go according to plan. Our route typically includes a Lake Michigan crossing to destinations like Ludington or Frankfort, depending on conditions, and includes night watches to simulate real offshore sailing scenarios.

Note: If you haven’t yet completed your ASA 105 (Coastal Navigation) certification, we recommend enrolling in our online ASA 105 course through Sea Safaris Online. You’ll have the option to complete the final exam during the sailing trip.
